If this is not your daily car, register it out of state and get rid of the converter.... The 745 was never intended to appease califonia as it was never intended to have catalitic converter. This is my best suggestion.... If thats not your style, then try these things.... The air flow adjustment is good too, but it may not ever get to what your picky state is looking for and your car may not run right in the position that would pass and you may end up not getting it back to where you had it. As far as temp on the engine, the hotter it is, the cleaner it should be as far as exhaust as its burning more of the fuel... in fact run the car very hard before you take it for inspection down the freeway WOT... then take it in....just dont let them burn up your transmission playing their typical games as I am sure you are well aware of the ZF22HP having the "self destruct" problem reving the engine out of gear. Before you go to insure you pass, buy some B34 phillips unleaded 100 octane gas or equivilant. This will burn so much cleaner than the pump stuff and just may get you where you need without turning a wrench as it is a high grade formulated unleaded that cost about $5.00 per gallon used for performance emmissions cars. I sell this to many people that have the same problem you do in texas... I have seen 500HP no catalitic converter cars pass with flying colors this way and you are not breaking any laws... Call around your area and find who sells race gas and go buy 3-5 gallons in a can and put it in when your car is almost out of gas... Im most certain this will work.

Previously I failed California smog test for high nitrous ox. Suggestions came in from readers it was time to change the cat converter. Well I still fail after having a new catalitic converter installed and now with higher nitrous ox than the previous test. The engine at idle runs hot the aux fan is on. Timing seems to be about 18 deg instead of 8-10 degrees. The timing could be making the engine to run hot. How or what is making the timing off, I hope it is not wear in the timing chain. I have a triple core radiator, fan clutch is ok I cannot trust my temp gauge after sitting at strait up for a while it will just start dancing towards the red I can never really trust what it is telling me. I have bled the air at the thermostat. Are all these side effects from something else? Any suggestions apprecitated before it goes to the shop.
