hi everyone - need help on this still... :)
I paid a mechanic the other day to try to reset the service indicator lights but the fancy bmw tool didnt work!! it got power from the diagnostic plug (I have the one with less pins) because the tool apparantly has no battery of its own.. but no reset action! what else could be wrong?? :)

There are two different tools. One is for pre 1987 and one from 1987-2000. You may have gotten the one from 1987-2000.
