Adam!
I just have a question?
Maybe I'm stupid, but gosh my experience have never seen this issue, has somone recently or with in the last 3 month worket on your car?

I do not know why, but it sure sounds like somone
may have overtighten the chain.

Sincerely Jens

No, the car has been running fine for 15 mo. now. Just inspected last mo. & passed with flying colors. I think that you may have gotten the impression that the chain broke, this is not the case however, the chain is fully intact just not on the camshaft sprocket. I imagine that perhaps a fragment of the chain rail broke off and caused the chain to jump off its sprocket. There is no visible damage to the cam sprocket, the crankshaft sprocket, or the chain tensioner is also fully intact. I won't know what the diagnosis is until I pull the front covers off and look through the oil pan.

I am going to try replacing the rocker, the chain, and re-time. Then I plan to test for compression. I hope that will show me whether or not valves are actually damaged. Today's quotes show that exaust valves cost about $70 from Bavarian Autosport. I bet I can get them a bit cheeper.

P.S. Maybe I'm wrong but I did not know there was a way to adjust chain tension, it was my impression that it's spring tensioned.
