David Taylor in Penn. has two used 745 engines. He can be reached at 888-553-1442. good luck

My poor 85' 745i threw its timing chain today on PA-276 @ 11:03 AM. Was driving nicely at 67mph when engine lost power and stopped. Suspected timing chain from quiet knocking sound after breakdown, while coasting. Pulled over, popped off valve cover and found the timing chain sitting next to the sprocket, not on it (I keep a lot of tools with my 745i). CAM would not turn with engine rotation. Had towed to my house. I do my own work.

Anyone have a suggestion at what the fastest or most efficient way to fix this would be, or if I need to pull the head again (was rebuilt 5000 miles ago, guess I should have replaced chains and rails then, ha ha) which I would like not to have to do. A rocker arm is broken on the exaust valve of cylinder #2. Do you think valves may be damaged if the chain was thrown, not advanced?

TIA respectfully,
ATLD, Adam

P.S. : Drove too good to be true.
