What does this word mean, German?

The large button on the left upper dash area for hvac controls marked "fondraum" corresponds with a button in my manual that says it is for the rear seat area heat. German to english translation means " foundation room" but I would guess if you push select the button heat is distributed to the floor of the rear seat area?
