Hi, I'm the guy from Florida. The vacuum motor that flips the ducts from defrost to face vents is located behind the radio on the right side. It has an orange and a yellow vacuum line going to it. What I did was break it loose from its bracket and pull it toward the rear of the car. If you leave the radio so you can pull it out easily, you can reach in and push the vacuum motor forward again to get defrost, but its not easy to do on a routine basis. Occasionally I need to reach in and pull it toward the rear again, so I just left the radio pressed into the dash. A proper repair would necessitate removing the whole dash. For what its worth.....
