the VATN Aerocharger. VATN is short for variable area turbine nozzle. These turbos have virtually no lag and even better they don't even need a wastegate. Are they available for our engines? Probably not. And I'll bet they cost more than our cars are worth. But hey, you asked. Read all about it in Maximum Boost by Corky Bell.

There are low friction ball bearing and water cooled turbos available, though, and they don't cost a fortune. Could be worth a look.

is there a correction that can be made so the 745i becomes more suitable for a 5-speed swap? any change in turbo or electronics? anyone like their stock car with a 5-speed? i've got the itch....
