The four wires going to the lower corner of the radiator are for the auxiliary fan temp switches, low and high speed. They have nothing to do with the temperature gauge.

Temp. gauge gets its signal from the switch located in the thermostat housing. It is the one closest to the drivers side. The other two are temp/time switch (middle position) and temp. sender for the Motronic (passenger side).

Ah, even more problems. ;) Until I get that sorted out could you tell me how the aux fan sensor wires are meant to go into the radiator?
