Your post. A close friend imports European cars. He tells me that right now, grey market cars come into the country under a sliding 25 year rule (advances each year). So, when your proposed import reaches 25 years of age, there will be no modifications required, and shipping and customs will be your issues. Up until the car is 25 years old, Cliff tells me he plans on $10,000 to $15,000 of mods, and he's importing Citroen 2CV's. This explains why these cars are rebuilt as new, and titled as 25 years old, using 25 year old, refurbed, rolling chassis. You couldn't do that with a 745i in my estimation. Let's see --- rebuild a 1975 Bavaria as a 745??????
Anyway, that's the scoop as I know it at this point in my life. Probably worthless info, that I will forget by tomorrow.
