I may be wrong, but the service indicator lights are just a timer for the owner that says"its time to service your car". I don't think they indicate that something is wrong. Your mechanic or dealer should re-set the indicators after service. There is a way you can do it yourself, but I wouldn't begin to tell you how. My other vehicle is a 2000 GMC and after 3000 miles, the indicator comes on and says change the oil. I think this is similar to the indicator lamps in the bimmers. I could be wrong though!

Your right, they are just reminders. The first answer is right. Worn Valve guides. Have someone follow you the next time you drive and if it smokes everytime you accellerate, then it's worn valve guides.
