Nice ride, Pete. Good pics. I have an electronic 8 pin 4hp22e that I'll sell you cheap off my 88 535is with 138k. Let me know if you are interested. I would not convert your car as for the $$ you can invest that into another car or one with a 5 speed. Just my opinion. I kept the auto in mine and love it even though I enjoy the 5 speed more in my 7's.

My auto tranny with 160k is beginning to slip when cold, but otherwise runs fine. Have done new filter and fluid, but has not helped. I've been tossing around the idea of converting to a 5 speed in the future - has anyone out there done this on an E23? Any ballbark figures on cost vs a rebuilt auto?
