1980 733i won't start (archive)

I have a 1980 733i 5 speed with the L-jetronic fuel system.
After 5 minutes of driving from a typical morning start, the
engine cranks, plugs spark, fuel pump pumps, car will not start. I have the old 528i series Haynes manual and the current Chilton manual and both of these suggest checking the cold start valve, thermo sensor and cold start relay but I can't find this relay or thermo sensor on either diagram. Can any body out there tell me where to find the necessary
diagram to trouble shoot this problem ?? I have replaced the ECU, coil, main resistor and on board computer to no avail.
