These engines were built to last. Bearing journal dimensions are bigger than many domestic V8's. Engines at 200k have been opened up to show little cylinder wear. The worst thing you can do on this engine is baby it and let the carbon build up in the cylinders, increasing compression and taxing the engine unduly. I even saw a post a couple of days ago stating that the manual suggests routinely running the engine for five miles at 5000 RPM (I'd verify that one) to keep carbon buildup down.

Drive the car. If you have to drive slow, buy something more conspicuous so we will see you when we roar up behind you on the interstate.... just kidding!
