Well guy's I have just taken on another bimmer prodject. Just bought a 1985 745i with 104,000 miles on it. Cranks up instantly drives fin shifts great but has one slight problem NO BOOST.

It runs like a very weak 735 with NA. To get the car home I have to drive it home about 350 miles. I have the persons permission to work on it in thier driveway so I thought I might drop the turbo out right there. My question is this a job that I should wait to do when I get it home or can I do it easy enough in a driveway to fix it first.

One reason I belive that the turbo is dead is due to the fact that the timer for turbo cool down system is not working. Also there is a steel tube on the side of the car's frame that turns out at an angle next to the turbo but has no hoses on it. This tube is about 2 inches in diameter. Is this part of the cool down system?

I guess I have several questions to ask.
1) Should I fix the turbo there or drive it home limply.
2) Where is the 555 timer located.
3) If you don't think the turbo is dead any suggestions?
4) I have a factory 735 manual but have microfiche on the 745 stuff. Is there a manual somewhere for this new baby?
5) If anyone has any pictures of what that side of the engine area should look like please email them to me.
6) I need all of the help I can get I am open to all sugestions that ya'll have.

TIA as I have allot of experiance in the 7 department but none on the 745 with it's rocket booster.
