The 725i was made in 1983 as an alternative for higher tax markets, i.e., Belgium. If you do a web search, it will come up a few thousand times, since most places do list parts for it, being interchangeable and all with other 2.5 liter engines. It produced 150hp.

As far as I can remember there was no 725; I just checked the German web page for e23 and there was no mention of a 725 either. 728 was the smallest sized engine in the e23 series.
for whatever its worth.
