I tried the steel wool and polish and all of the other usual remedys to no avail. What finally worked, and worked the first time, was "Jeweler's Aluminum Polish" (name and what it does). I found this at an "Auto Zone," but you can probably find it at any parts supply store. If not, visit your local jeweler.
