Here's an interesting problem. My 86 L7 (130k) has a strange stalling problem that only occurs during engine warm-up. When I start the car in the morning and begin my drive to work the car goes through a thirty second period of hesitation, and this always occurs about 3 to 4 minutes after I have started the car. When I'm going down the road my fuel economy guage goes from 22 mpg to 12 mpg and sits there for about thirty seconds, then returns to normal. During this thirty second period if I press the accelerator the car runs very rough, loses power, and feels like it's going to die. The bad thing is that If I'm at a stop light, or in a situation where I need to accelerate from a stand-still during this thirty second period I can plan on breaking down in the middle of the road. The good thing is that if I wait around 30-40 seconds the car starts right up and runs fine the rest of the way to work. Originally when this happened I thought it was the O2 sensor, so I crawled under the car and disconnected it, but the problem is still there. There's one more thing that could be causing this, and it's quite strange. Recently my oil pressure switch that runs the low pressure light on the dash developed a nasty leak and caused oil to get into the wiring harness, which caused oil to run down into the O2 sensor line. When I crawled under the car to disconnect the sensor I pulled back the rubber boot on the O2 sensor connector (on the ECU Side) and noticed alot of oil draining out. I haven't measured the resistance value of oil, but I'm betting that the oil is causing continuity between the three wires that go to the sensor connector and causing a false reading at the ECU. If any one has some creative suggestions on what could be causing this please let me know. (I am thinking the oil inside the wire sheathing is the problem) THANKS!!
