Caty flange bolt - Help!!!! (archive)

I am attempting to remove the exhaust from back of caty on my '86 735i. I putchased the Bosal one-piece system. I have 5 of the 6 caty flange bolts off but I can't even get a wrench on the driver side top flange bolt. It is sandwiched up against the heat shield. Has anyone run into this? Tomorrow, with the help of a friend, I am going to try and lower the entire exhaust just enough to access the bolt in question. This would entail removing all supports and bolts except for the bolts connecting the caty to the exhaust manifold. The caty is original so I am worried about cracking a portion of it somewhere.

Any ideas or suggestions?
