Is there a special fluid I should be using for my PS pump resevoir. I have a small leak on my '86 and just keep filling it with synthetic (Valvoline) power steering fluid. Any recommendations? I think the tag on the car says DOT 4. Does that sound correct?

you should be using ATF fluid. The power steering and power brake booster are powered by the pump.

Where is the leak occuring?

You need to find the leak and repair as needed. Then drain all the fluid out of the system and replace with the ATF type fluid. Well you are at it change the filter located on the bottom of the canister that holds the fluid.
