Low miles are important, but maintenance is equally important on any BMW, but especially on the 7 series because of the higher cost of certain parts. Does the AC work? Has the front suspension been maintained? Is one a manual - trannies are an issue and expensive. Does is have service records - was it loved by its previous owner?

I have a line on a couple of E-23's, an 83 and a 85 both at a good price but the 85 is a thousand more. What do you think, is it that much better of a car? It probably wouldn't be our daily driver but may be the kids (with their kids in carseats) I know BMW's well but not E-23's specifically. Tell me what you think.
Thanks,
Mike W.
