Our 1983 right hand drive 735i has developed an interesting fault.

The speedo is operating erratically and indicates approximately 1/2 the speed we are traveling at.
The tacho is showing about half revs.
Temperature seems to be stuck on cold.
Inspection warning lights flash intermitently.
The odometer is not moving at all.

From what I have read. It could be;
Instrument panel plug connection or Nicad battery
Sender unit on rear axle.

Anyone had a similar problem or know the fix before I pull the instrument panel?

We have owned the car for 2 months and apart from this little problem are extremely impressed. Its a great, solid and quiet car. (except for a bit of wind noise around the external mirrors)
