GENTLEMEN; i need some help, my transmission is starting to slip in reverse. this only happens after the car has been driven for awhile. i've taken it to my mechanic and he says that i need to have it rebuilt and quoted a price of 1600.
questions, do i need to have the trans rebuilt? and the quote i was given is that fair? any help will be appreciated.

PS: is there any other e23 trans that fits the 745I, this was an option that my mechanic gave me???????

John,
I would try "servicing" the unit first by replacing the filter and fluid with a good quality (dextron III I think is what's required but check your manual) then go to NAPA (yes, NAPA) and buy a bottle of Lubriguard for xmissions (red bottle) and add it to your tranny fluid- don't overfill. Cheers! KD
