Electrical Woes:windows,hvac/engine? (archive)

Tonight my 86 735i suddenly started running poorly, missing badly at all speeds. My son was driving it at the time. When I picked the car up it was raining (a clue?). The car started fine, but ran poorly and the power windows wouldn't work, and the switches didn't light up. Also the HVAC system isn't working either, that is the blower isn't working and the switches don't light up when pressed. Anyone have any ideas?
