As silly as it might sound. Get a new battery. Yours possibly has damaged cells and doesn't hold the full re3quired voltage. Strangely despite being to low in charge(voltage) it still turns over the starter motor but the electronics are cutting of below a certain voltage. Also check why your battery might not hold full voltage. On mine it was a brocken ground cable connection from the alternator to the engine block. Although to warning light on the instrument panel ever came on to tell me that the battery wasn't being charged and it looks anyway that the alternator is connected trough some of it's mounts to the ground. The car will run severall hundred miles on battery and at some stage your electric fuelpump does not get enough power to sustain fuel pressure and the car becomes at first sluggish and can backfire if you put down the trottle to fast. Investigate the state of your alternator ground cable very carefully. The ring connector undernerneath the nut itself brakes or tears. Solved a problem which I was driving around for half a year with. And those BMW guys in the UK or "Deutschland" were never finding the fault of the powerdrain. Very useless when you're expected to pay �50/hour and you feel they know less of your than you yourself. Oh I never seen any of this type before for real. Usual comment. Or if, but not for ten 10years. Great so they also do not know what the car is up to at this type of age. Good luck anyway.
