735i engine swap 86 to 85 (archive)

I have an 85 735i with a bad engine and would like to put in an 86 735i engine. Are all the electronics the same?????? Also, my auto transmission is the regular 4spd and the 86 has an auto with the "sport shift". Should I use the 85 trans. or the 86? What would be involved in putting in the "sport shift trans"? Thanks for any help.
