Just found the problem with my ac not working. I opened the front grill and pushed the fan and the motor began turning. I had the same problem less than a year ago, and I replaced with one from salvage yard, thinking I would get several years service out of it. I took a chance, and kind of got burned this time. I shot a little oil in there, but I figure it's just a matter of time before it freezes up again.

What is everyone else doing about these? If I remember correctly, new ones run around $300.00. Can it be refurbished, or replaced with a less expensive motor? I appreciate any suggestions. I just spent $900.00 on head gasket repair, so my repair funds are stretched a little thin right now.

One thing I am learning that if I keep this car long enough, I will eventually experience all the common problems that other e23 owners have described on this message board. The blower really seems to be a weak link in a poorly designed HVAC system. I guess I'm lucky not to have the vacuum leaks yet, but this car (140K miles) is on it's 4th transmission (3 by previous owner).

Still like the car, and for the most part I don't mind working on it. Thanks for all the assistance from this forum.
