Yes, I've been through it. I live in Summit County (Twinsburg 26 mi SE of Cleveland) and have had my e-check done when I first bought the car. I shared the same concerns as you. They never revved the engine in P or N, rather they drive the car onto some rollers and put a fan in front of the grill. They then proceed to shove a sniffer up the tail pipe and look for a CAT under the car using a mirror, finally they test the gas cap for pressure. During the actual emissions test they drive the car onto the rollers and run it up to 35mph and they may even go up to 60mph, then engine brake down to a slow speed and the rollers actually brake to a stop from there. (I think) Anyway my biggest worry is that the car will jump off the rollers and hit the fan when the dummy punches it. They also had no clue as to what type of car a 745i is, it's not listed on their computer, but I told them to test it as a 735i and they did. Those people are so stupid the guy thought that the resonator was the cat and when I told him otherwise he argued w/ me but I just shut up and let him test it b/c I know whats up w/ my car! I swear you don't even have to graduate highschool to work there. Anyway tell them of your concerns and stand there and watch them, they wouldn't let me stay in the car. Express your concern to them about the Probs. associated w/ the ZF 4HP-22EH and see what they say. My 745i had 111k on it when I had it tested as a 735i and it passed w/ flying colors and the O2 sensor is not connected to anything. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. Where do you live? I have a friend who liked my 745 so much he bought one too and we live a mile from each other and are located near 6 flags ohio in case you have never heard of twisburg. If your in the area we should get together for drinks and BS about our wonderful cars.
