This was only found by looking at the circuit board with a 10x loupe. I could not see it with my naked eye. (Don't worry, my eyes look great naked.) The previous owner did not replace the batteries and they had begun to leak. The acid ate through the speedo pin out copper circuits etched into the board. I jumped the corrosion with a wire jumper and soldered it in. Everything is back to normal and I have cruise!
Hey driving a 745i without cruise is like driving the space shuttle to the corner market!
Next problem to solve: engine cuts out under high demand (accelerating from 80-100 at full throttle). It seems like it is starving for fuel. I am going to replace the fuel filter right now and see if that fixes it.
But I am thinking...maybe it is the turbo circuits? Are there any ignition cut outs on the turbo circuits?
Thanks guys (and gals!!)
