Can an OBC I be replaced with an OBC II?
I have a 83 733i...with no OBC, just a clock - i have 3 BMW's and the damn clock doesn't work in any of them - anyhoo i suspect that there is a wiring connection for an OBC (version I i suspect).
But i have a 87 735i that i am parting with an OBC II and i want to know if i can put it into my 83 733i.
Please say yes :)
Thanks
Jason
Pull down the underdash panel beneath your steering wheel. That's where the OBC is located. Its a black box with two screws holding to the same panel. There is also a replaceable bulb in the display itself. That could be out. I understand that in some older units such as yours, there is also a fuse inside the display. To pull out the display, you must first remove the ashtray, then the radio.
