Two weeks ago I posted about how I was losing coolant and overheating...and couldn't find the problem. Well, it turns out coolant was leaking into my engine and was mixing with my oil... turning out to be a slightly over $2000 repair (at a non-dealer repair shop).

Now that the car is working again, I have been told to watch my temp gauge since the mechanic has a feeling the hot air fan is not kicking in sufficiently. Before, for highway driving, my temp guage would be a cpl degrees past midnight...and since I got the car back, in city driving, the temp gauge will hover between 2/5ths past midnight to almost a full measure unit past. Is this normal?

I've been told that if I turn on the air-conditioner and then temp gauge goes down, then that indicates the regular engine fan is not kicking in sufficiently.

Any thoughts? Thx.
