I need to know the parts needed to retro-fit a trip computer into my 85' Euro 732i SE, I have a scrap 87' Euro 735i SE as a donor.

Does my car have the wiring etc. in place or most of it a least? Or is this going to be a nightmare job?
Can anybody help please?

I put a computer in my 85 735 with ease. There's a short wiring harness that goes from the instrument cluster to the OBC. You'll need that. It has about a half dozen other wires going to various parts of the car. You'll need to cut those (they likely won't be present on your '85). There are a couple going up to the chime unit, 3 or 4 going to the relay box and one going out to the temperature sensor near the front bumper. It's up to you how many of these you add to your car - none are essential.

I installed the temperature sensor and ran my own wire for it, but didn't bother tying the obc into the chime unit (it's not compatible with the non-obc chime unit, which chimes when the door is open and key is in the ignition). If you have a donor chime unit, you could replace it - not sure what that would do to the door-open alarm though. If you intend to the transfer the chime unit over as well, obviously you won't want to cut the wires that run from the harness up to the chime unit..

The relay box sounds the horn (for the car alarm) and does ignition kill. If you want to, you can move that over as well, but that'll require a few more modifications to tap into your horn & ignition circuits..

The OBC gets almost all of its signals from the harness that goes to the instrument cluster. I think I had to add a ground connection and a connection to the single wire that comes off of the IC for the cruise control.
