You need some tools for drilling large holes and it helps to have it high up in the air. Make a template of all holes, when you remove it. I paid approx $12 for mine. Don't forget any of the parts when you remove it, especially the distance tubes and disconnect the cabeling at the rear lights where they are normaly connected with those "cable thieves"(blue Scotch thingis?). You should replace the self locking nuts. I did not need to replace with another relay in the car because I did not want to drill a whole for a secondary indicator trailer control light for when the trailer is connected.
Otherwise I towed my freshly sprayed beetle chassis half accross Germany at night going mostly between 150km/h and 200km/h. The trailer had 4 tires 205/70 VR 14 on it. I cannot recommend this since the speedlimit for trailers on the Autobahn is 80km/h. At this boaring speed you can still change your piston rings while driving :) Important the beetle had no windows in it. This was very stabilizing.
