I just purchased my first bimmer a 84 733i I have two problems 1. my temp gauge doesnt work properly it doesnt move at first startup and then after the car has been on for some time it jumps back and forth between the halfway mark and back to the start position is this repairable......????
2.my fresh air vent is open and wont close and my heater doesnt work any help will be greatly appreciated
Shaun,
Check your grounds connections at the sensor. Also look at the wiring. The e23 traps a lot of heat underhood and the wiring tends to get brittle. Get yourself a can of Caig De-Oxit and clean every electrical connection. You will be amazed at what problems this will solve. This car's electrical system is very ground sensitive and bad grounds can cause many problems. I would also follow Ken's advice on the SI board.
