Well, things seem to be running smoother. I'm through the first tank of gas and just refilled the tank. I spoke with someone who has used the BG44K before and he says that I won't see the real benefits for 2-3 tanks. I'll keep you posted and next time I'll try Techron :)

Folks,

Just put in a can lf BG 44 into the fuel tank. It was highly recommended by some local mechanics that I respect and I thought I'd see how it impacts my 172K engine and fuel system. Noticed a fair amount of dark (grey) smoke coming out on acceleration and I assumed it was just crap being burned. Now, I'm seeing my MPG dropping by about 2 MPG (19 from 21-22), lower idle RPM (about 500) and very tough warm engine starting with smoke puffing out upon a warm start. Do you think that this is just transient until I get the crap through the system? It seems like I'm running too rich though I don't have any meters attached. Just thought I'd put this out to the masters of the board and see if you think that there is something going on or if I should just continue and burn through a few tanks of gas. I don't notice any changes in acceleration or cruising.

Thx,
Ted
