I did my E-12 528i years ago and it came out very good. I had to use paint/epoxy remover as BMW used a good urethane finish, regular paint remover didn't touch it. I sprayed Minwax quickdry polyurethane finish with many coats and it came out great, however each coat took longer to dry, do be aware of that. It's not an afternoon job but it really isn't that hard
