Hey guys, my 85' 735i won't start. Turns over but won't catch. The local garage, thinks it might be the Motronic control. However, they aren't willing to invest money in testing it ( I guess this means buying one and tryng it out.) Haven't tried the dealer yet, they are 15 miles away. Anyway if ya'll have any suggestions, or know where how to test it at a reasonable expense. Many thanks,

Larry

trouble shoot from there.

Killer list. Master relay (on fire wall), coil, speed and position sensor, coolant sensor, fuel pump relay, fuel pump, and ECM.

Find out if you have 12 volts at the coil.

Check to see if you have fuel pressure at the rail.

Don't change the ECM until you check all the other items.

What did you change or work on before the car would not start?

Let us know.
