1984 BMW 733i (archive)

I found a 1984 BMW 733i which is being sold for $700. The owner says it needs transmission work but will run OK, and besides that everything else is in good condition. I was wondering if anyone had any insight to what I should look for when I take it for a test drive and all that kind of stuff and if you think its worth that much.
