It is not as much as the fan itself! On my e28, I wired my aux fan to max power by by-passing the resistor so that it runs in full 12v mode whenever it is on (either by the low switch or the high one). Not only did the fuse melt, but the wiring to the aux fan relay melted as well. I am going to rewire the entire circuit with heavy guage wire and a direct lead to the batter with a relay. I will hook up the relay to the low temp switch, and an interior switch that runs through the a/c circuit so that I can turn the fan off when cruising the freeway with a/c on and then turn it on in heavy traffic if required.
