Long Time.... Been busy. Got to drive my 745i last week. It still runs great! Hope everyones car is doing well. Got to the track one weekend this summer and raced the ole 745 along with one of my vettes. It got some good attention and impressed the crowd. Sorry, but I could not beat the M5 at the 1/4 mile track, even though I can from 20MPH up. He was running high 12's at about the same MPH as me, just took off much better, but I locked it up about 40mph and actually started to gain a bit, but 1320 ft was just to short of a distance to catch it. I guess its not too bad for my old 80's low tech car!

I left a post on the e32 board as I am thinking about buing a big ole 750 as an addition. I'm not going to ever abandon the e23... promise! but wanted to ask a few question about the car in general as I really have no clue other than very minor things. Any of you e23 guys know anything about a 750, specs, differences 88-95 96-newer, etc, your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I wrote;

I am from the e23 and e24 board and have several old BMWs. I own a shop that works on corvettes and am a
mechanic, but am no expert on the 750il. I have heard nothing but bad things on how hard they are to work on, what a pain everything is, etc, so I think I want to buy one... Kinda my way with cars as I own the most complicated cars built, callaway twin turbos, ZR1s, 745 turbo and about 7 others, so I thought a 750il would fit right in with an over complicated car collection. I also see that there are some pretty good deals on some very nice cars, so it seems to be quite a car for the money, unless its just not worth the headache....

I am considering buying a 90-95 low mileage original condition 750il and putting the chip(s), exhaust, M parallels, etc on it and driving it possible 2-3000 miles a year. I also may be able to buy a newer year like a 96, but wanted to ask currect knowledgable persons about the advantages/disadvantages of the 89-95 and 96 newer cars. I dont care about
the "bells and whistles" differences, but the performace and reliability, suspension, difference of the two cars along with long term maintinance issues. I prefer the looks of the 90-95 with the exposed front lights, but if the 96 and newer is a better car with better performace, even if I do a few mods to a 90-95, I want to find out. Give me the low down please!
