I remember from the "New" Mercedes S-Class of 1980, that there was a 280S with a carburator and a 280SE which was fuel injected. Of this I am 100% certain as to the german market.
The carburator version were the entry modells at the lowest price and performance.
I am pretty sure it was the same with the 728 but on this one I can't be certain.
