Bob,
If you are going to keep the car for a long time and it's a nice car, a stainless exhaust is your best deal because you will never have to replace it again. The cost is about what you'll pay for a factory BMW exhuast $600 but you'll be ahead of the game in 4-5 years when the factory exhaust would be gone. Aftermarket exhausts can be had for $200 like Bosal or Ansa and my cars chew through those in 18-24 months, really a bad value when you keep a car for 10 years. Three makers of stainless I've had good luck with: Borla, B&B Tri Flow, Stebro. Borlas is closest to stock in sound, Stebro with insterts in the rear (order quiet exhuast) is next quietest, and B&B is a totally free flow and too loud for the female persuasion to even want to ride in the car. (great if you want to have performance and keep the wife out of the car) ( she can tell when I'm comeing home when I get a block away) I would buy the B&B again for a 745 thought because the performance is very noticable when you crank up the boost. steve
