Through research on this board and the help of Callan's site, I'm 100% confident I have my problems diagnosed. I need the microswitch problem for the thumbwhell fixed, and I need the NiCad batteries replaced on the SI board. Here is the kicker . . . The local BMW repair "expert" wants $450 to replace the batteries and $700 to fix the thumbwheel problem. He said there is no shortcuts to fixing these, although reading here it is clear there is.

However, I have no mechanical skills at all. Is there anybody in the area that would be willing to fix these two items for me ??? I could make it well worth your while !!
