Power steering Noise car does not stay running (archive)

Car is idle. Its screwed up. It started after the power steering noise. The idle is still messed up even when the power steering belt is removed.

The car turns on and dies. It seems like its choking and there is also a rich gas smell in the exhaust. The mile per gallon needle on the dashboard jumps from 40-0 when the car is on. The engine also shakes a lot when the car is on. It seems like its choking for air or gas flow may be limited.

Where do I start looking?
