I got the information below from Callans e23 page. I pulled my door apart, and this seems to be my problem (I found the broken sping in the bottom of the door. I got another from a BMW at a salvage yard, but I need some direction as to getting it on. There is a window guide piece that is right in front of the Latch Tongue inside the door that is blocking the pin that the spring would attach to. Is there a way to move this piece out of the way? I could not see a bolt or anything to move this piece. I assume that it has to move since that would be the only to remove the door lock piece from the door. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Scott.

"Also, make sure that the rotating latch tongue on the L/F door hasn't broken a spring inside. You should be able to open the door; turn the latch tongue on the door by hand and both hear and feel it lock into place. If it just pops or hangs loosely you lost a spring inside at the latch. Again, use any working door as a guide if you are not sure."
