I have 3, '87 325i convertible, + 2 '90 325ix touring. Somehow I have the idea that my convertible is better than the tourings. I never had any major repairs on any of them, execpt change of the automatic gear box on one of the iX's. This is the 4HP electronic version, the old 3HP seems much more reliable to me.

I do like the E30's very much, very good performance, good road handling, good built quality and good looks! I even got rid of my company car (Volvo V40 2.0 turbo) in favour of the iX touring. Only drawback on the iX's; they drink like a templar.

...but you're the people i trust the most, so, which in your opinion is the most reliable e30 year/model i can buy ? and is the auto tranny more reliable than the manual one ? I am buying one so i can stop putting mileage on my 7 and so i can take it easy on the gas...

buying tips are also welcomed.
Thanx in advance...
