I'd agree that 25 yards is fine, but have to disagree with "prior to my hand touching". Pretty frustrating to be standing at the trunk with your golf clubs, and have to either use the key or walk towards the front of the car all the while pressing the damn button.

The real question is whether the trunk mount provides better range than the front mount. AutoLoc advised that something must be interfering with the unit if the range is that short. I installed mine in the area of the central lock control module, as you claim to have done.
