First I have to say thanks for the years of help. :) This is my first posting. I have a 82 733i which is running very rough when cold, when it gets warm its ok but the engine is still shakes a little. I took it to BMW in S. Calif., they said it may have something to do with the NTSB Sensor. When removed it ran better when cold but not as good when warm. They did try replacing 2 parts, which I have no idea what they were, but it did not help. Any ideas out there?

Thanks,
Nicole

Nicole,

I believe your '82 has Bosch Motronic FI. This means it has a Idle Control Valve (ICV) that acts as a "choke" valve when cold. I replaced my ICV
and water temp sensor on my '86 L7 and all my idle problems went bye-bye. Now the enine ticks like a clock - doesn't miss a beat. Both are simple to replace and relatively inexpensive - ICV $100, Water Temp. Sensor $20.

Let me know if you need further help.

Fife
