Sadly, there are none. Other than going to your dealer and ponying up really big money for the shop service manual (which is written for technicans with a full board of tools behind them), there are few choices. It seems that 7 series owners don't work on their own cars...or that's what they tell us. Oddly Bentley skipped over the E23 and produced a manual on the E32 though.

Your best resource, in the end, is going to be this board. You can supplement the board with a few aids though. Our running gear is fairly similar to the E28 drive line of the same period - so a Bentley manual for the E28 5 series can help. Clymers also has a big book that is constantly for sale on eBay - it theoretically covers all BMW models from the late 70's to the late 80's - although I am supremely skeptical of a reference book that tries to cover that much material.
