Overcooling (archive)

My car was overcooling and, when I went in after the thermostat, I broke a bolt off. I am waiting for a friend to help me tap that bolt because I'm not very good at it myself. In the meantime, how bad is it for my car to continue driving with the thermostat sticking open? I'm in central Texas and the temp range is 35-50 f right now. Any thoughts?
