Steve your bet is as good as mine.
What you have changed is exactly what I would have done suspecting mainly a faulty (switch).
There is not much left to check.
There is a relay which is prone to rusting and misfunctioning. (especially when you heater core was leaking at some stage) The condensation of it gets into the electric window relais.
In my car (RHD) it is on the right side near the footwell, but in the dashboard area.
The other point would be some circuitery which could be in the window motor assemblement.
To test you could switch them around. With the help of some cable and see what type of result you're getting. Or physically switch them around to test.
Take it out the front and connect to the rear.
Best Regards
Ralf

Thanks Ralf
I ordered a service manual so I can get a wiring dia. I'll look for the relays. I was hoping it happened to someone else so I could save some troubleshooting.
Steve
